Steps to check Benami land registrations taken: Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Revenue Mahmood Ali has declared in the Assembly that the State government had ensured that there would be no scope for benami or illegal land registrations under the Anywhere Registration scheme.

Replying to a question by TRS member Srinivas Goud during question hour, the Deputy Chief Minister said the State government had taken all steps to check illegal or benami registration of lands in the State. He also asserted that no loss was sustained by the government with regard to registration of non-agriculture lands as agriculture lands under the Anywhere Registration Scheme.

As regards the government ULC and Wakf lands registered illegally under the scheme, the Deputy Chief Minister said in 183 documents registered, it was prima facie found that they pertained to prohibited properties. The actual number of documents registered containing prohibited properties would be known only after an inquiry. However, he made it clear that no benami registrations had taken place under the scheme. A system has been introduced wherein the concerned Sub-Registrar would verify thoroughly any prohibitory lands come for registration and only after ensuring that there was no illegal dealing then only the registration formality would be completed, he added.
