Coimbatore, August 29: The cotton lint prices maintained a steady to easy trend during the first fortnight of the month, even as isolated monsoon in different parts continued to disturb the calculations of the cotton farmers, according to South India cotton Association (SICA).
Price ruled steady in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, were J-34 Saw ginned quoted at Rs 2370 to Rs.2400 per maund spot, SICA in its market report for the period, said.
with Shankar-6 ruling at Rs 22,800 to Rs 23,200 and V 797 ranging from Rs 17,600 to Rs 18,000 per candy spot, prices continue to rule easy in Gujarat, while in Madhya Pradesh, MECH/H4 ruled at Rs 22,100 to Rs 22,400 per candy spot indicating a steady tendency.
Price moved in the range between Rs 22,000 to Rs 22,900 per candy spot for 28-30 mm in Maharashtra, whereas it witnessed a steady tendency in Andhra Pradesh, where MCU 5 ruled at Rs 22,300 to Rs 23,000 per candy spot.
Lint prices continued to be on a softening trend in Karnataka, as DCH 32 ruled between Rs 30,300 and Rs 31,700 per candy spot.
In Tamil Nadu also prices continued to rule steady, SICA said.
