Hyderabad: IT & MAUD Minister K Tarakarama Rao today informed the House during question hour in the Assembly that the State government will set up processing units in the State in a big way to boost rural economy.
KTR said a discussion was going on to finalize a draft policy in this regard. When the members asked about crops like chilli, turmeric, rice, sweet lemon and others at various locations in the State, KTR said the State government under leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was going ahead with its plan to double the income of rural poor and farmers who involve in farm production, KTR said.
As the discussion was going on in the Cabinet to approve the key decision to set up food processing units in Telangana, KTR said the policy will come into effect to boost village level farm and other production to ensure the people get better income, KTR assured. He also said Rs 50 crore worth chilli food processing unit will be set up in the State.
