Congress party chief whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy on Tuesday said that the government was taking all steps to provide fertilizers and seeds to farmers during the khariff season.
Talking to media persons at Congress Legislature Party office, he said that the government has procured additional bags of fertilizers and seeds this year in view of the shortage face during last khariff season. Stating that farmers were demanding seeds of only popular brands, he asked the farmers to focus their attention on other seed companies for harvesting crops. “It is not possible to supply same company seeds across the State. Therefore, the government has asked the farmers to focus on other seed companies for starting tilling operations,” he said.
Reiterating that the government was committed for the welfare of farmers, he said that the government would honour all the promises made to them and provide free power supply for seven hours. He said that the government failed to supply nine hours power to farmers due to shortage of gas in power stations. He said that the government was making all efforts to tide over the power crisis in the State.
MLA Ch Muthyam Reddy expressed concern over the sale of fake seeds in the market. Asking the farmers to be cautious, he appealed to the farmers not to purchase the seeds without taking a bill. (INN)
