State population 8.46 crores

The state capital may boast of anything but not women power as it has the least number of women vis-à-vis men, according to latest census.

The total population of the State is 8, 45, 80,777, according to the census released here on Friday by the Registrar of Census, YV Anuradha.

While the rural population is 5,63,61, 702 the urban population is 2,82,19,075 crores, according to the 2011 census. The highest number of women dwells in Nizamabad with a male female ratio of 1000/1040 while the least is Hyderabad with a ration of 1000/954.

The most populated district is Ranga Reddy district with 52, 96, 741 persons and the least populated district is Vizianagaram recording 23,44,474 persons. The total number of families in the stats is 2,10, 22,588 with the male/female ratio is 1000/993.

Pedagntyada in Visakhapatnam recorded the highest rate of population increase.

SCs form 12.47 per cent of state state population at 38,78,078 while STYs form seven per cent of the population at 59, 18, 073.

Workers in the State are 3, 94,22,906.

Mahbubnagar has the least literacy rate at 56.63 per cent while the city tops the table with 83.74 per cent. The total literacy rate in the state stands at 67.66 per cent. Women still lag behind in almost all the districts in literacy and the ratio is 75.56/ 59.74. Barring Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and West Godavari in remaining districts the gap is nearly 20 per cent.
