State to plunge into darkness in the first week of August?

Hyderabad, July 29: The state will be plunged into darkness from the first week of ensuing month since as part of the agitation for separate Telangana, Telangana Political Joint Action committee has announced to block water and coal supply to National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). This comes as a rude shock to the people of the city who have already been suffering the worst electric supply situation for over a month.

It is said that if it is actually acted upon then it will not only affect Andhra Pradesh but will have an impact on other three states and more than 4000 industries would also be affected.

It has been learnt that employees union leaders have met convenor Political Joint Action Committee, Prof. Kodanda Ram. Following the meeting it is most likely that the power production would be hampered.

This would be carried out to mount pressure on central government with an attempt to intensify Telangana movement. Following talks with Singareni workers, NTPC and several other employees’ unions have issued notices to the administrations announcing indefinite strike from August 1.

If coal production is obstructed at Singareni then the power production at NTPC would be blocked which would negatively effect four states and they would be plunged into darkness.
