State Minorities Commission appoints Advocates’ Team to provide legal aid to prisoners

Hyderabad: Telangana State Minorities Commission appointed a team of four Advocates consisting of Mr. Mohammed Abdul Wahab, Mr. Mohammed Ismail Khan, Mr. Parikshit K and Mr. Uma Maheshwar Rao who provide legal assistance and counseling to prisoners. Necessary permission has already been obtained by DG of Prisons. This scheme will find out such of the prisoners who were not able to file bail petitions and can’t afford deposit money. The team has been instructed to help all the prisoners irrespective of religion. This was stated by Mr. Abid Rasool Khan, Chairman of State Minorities Commission in a press note issued yesterday.

Mr. Khan has also made a representation to Commissioner of GHMC and Addl. Commissioner of Police (Traffic) to construct a foot over bridge at MJ College of Engineering, located at Road number 3, Banjara Hills. He stated that more than 10, 000 students study in this college and they are facing difficulties in crossing the road.

Mr. Khan further stated in his press note that Commission received representations that many Dalit families are cultivating the lands of Muslims for many years. He requested the Govt. to cancel their lease and give possession to Muslim land owners.
