State hospitals to go online for patients

Hyderabad, November 19: An online system is being introduced in all government hospitals to see that patients registering at one hospital will be able to continue consultation and treatment at another.

Each patient will be given a code number during registration at one hospital and his data retrieved online if he/she approached another hospital.

This was stated by Minister for Medical Education P. Sudarshan Reddy while inaugurating a health camp for government employees in the Secretariat on Thursday.

The Minister said reforms being introduced in the government hospital system were such that the prescribed tests and consultation in case of outpatients would have to be completed in three hours hereafter.

Referring to the demand for issuing health cards to the government employees on the lines of the ones provided to the poor under Aarogyasri, he said various aspects of the issue were being examined before taking a decision.

P. V. Ramesh, principal secretary, Health, and A. Dharma Rakshak, head, cardiothoracic surgery, NIMS, spoke about the stress which the employees undergo and advised periodic health check-ups for them. M. Hanumantha Reddy, president, AP Secretariat Association, spoke.
