State Hajj quota may be increased by 500 seats

(Siasat News) After the Supreme Court’s judgement, A.P. State is likely to get 500 more seats in Hajj quota. State Haj Committee gets a quota of 5056 seats. According to Supreme Court’s yesterday’s judgement, Central Haj Committee gets nearly 10,000 seats which will be distributed among all the states. Ministry of External Affairs is expected to issue orders today. While talking to Siasat reporter, Dr. Syed Shakir Hussain, CEO of Central Haj Committee told that after getting additional quota, seats will be allotted to waitlisted applicants. They will have less time to deposit the entire travel amount. It is therefore, advisable that the waitlisted Haj pilgrims should be ready with their passports and full amount so that their applications could be processed immediately.

Dr. Shakir Hussain, CEO of Central Haj Committee told that a decision was already finalized to send the pilgrims by Spice jet and Saudi Airlines instead of Air India but these tenders were cancelled. Fresh tenders have been called for which will be opened today. It is expected that the responsibility of carrying Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia would be given to Air India and Saudi Airlines.

Director of Civil Aviation had given preference to Spice Jet because the pilots of Air India were on strike. After finalization of the airlines, fresh schedule of departures of the of the Hajj pilgrims will be issued. Dr. Shakir Hussain has requested the waitlisted passengers to be ready with should their passports and travel amount. They should be the looking for the waiting list for the confirmation of their seats.
