The State Government on Tuesday suspended senior IPS officer Umesh Kumar, who is facing a forgery case, for his unauthorized absence from duty.
The government issued orders suspending Umesh Kumar from services as a disciplinary action for his unauthorized absence from the duty for the last five days. The government issued suspension orders three days after a local court issued non-bailable warrant against the officer and he went into hiding after police reached his house to execute the warrant.
However, the High Court on Monday kept in abeyance the warrant till June 25 and directed Umesh Kumar to surrender before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court before June 25 in connection with the forgery case registered against him.
An IPS officer of 1977 batch, Umesh kumar allegedly forged a letter in the name of a Rajya Sabha MP to complain against IPS officer Dinesh Reddy and hit his prospects of being elevated to the post of DGP.
