State of Govt hospitals in T shocks Vijayasanthi

Sangareddy, August 29: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) secretary general and Medak MP M Vijayasanthi has expressed displeasure over the poor state of the government hospitals in various districts of the region. She sanctioned Rs 20 lakh to the Sangareddy Government Hospital during her visit to the hospital Friday. She was accompanied by Sangareddy MLA Toorpu Jayaprakash Reddy.

She inspected all the wards and expressed dissatisfaction over the functioning of the hospital.

Stating that she had visited the government hospitals when she was the president of Talli Telangana Party and now, after joining the TRS, Vijayasanthi said the condition of the hospitals where the poor receive treatment has always been very bad.

Later, addressing mediapersons, she lamented that the hospitals, visited by hundreds of sick people everyday, lacked sanitation. The bathrooms, toilets and surroundings are in a very miserable state, she said adding that in some buildings the officials were being non-chalant even when rain water stagnated in the wards.

She directed Sangareddy Hospital superintendent Dr Sridhar, who was beside her, to take necessary measures to improve sanitation on a warfooting and ensure that the wards were clean.

When the MP asked the superintendent about the problems in the hospital, he said the beds were insufficient. Around 400 people visit the hospital daily while there are only 250 beds, he said. There is shortage of oxygen being supplied to the hospital, he said and asked for central oxygen system as it would help them to treat all kinds of patients in the hospital without referring them to other hospitals.

“Patients suffering from heart attack, asthma, paralysis and kidney problems need oxygen,’’ he briefed. The superintendent also asked for setting up a laproscope in the hospital as it would enable them to perform major operations by viewing through the telescope. “This type of operation will reduce the pain and even number of resting days,’’ he pointed out and told the MP that Rs 20 lakh would be needed for providing the facilities of central oxygen system and laproscope.

At this point, Sangareddy MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy intervened and said that many people from nearby Rangareddy district also visited the hospital apart from those in the district. He suggested that majority of the problems would get resovled if Rs 20 lakh were sanctioned from the MP Funds.

Responding to the suggestions, the MP promised to sanction Rs 20 lakh to Sangareddy Hospital from the MP funds.
