The State Government has decided to file a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court on the local body elections issue.
Speaking to the media in his chamber, Secretariat here, the Minister for Panchayat Raj K Jana Reddy said that it was not possible to immediately conduct elections to the local bodies. Hence, the government has decided to file an SLP in the Supreme Court on local body elections. The State Government would also request the Centre not to stop the funds to the state due to non-conduct of local body elections, keeping in mind the interests of the state.
The Minister informed that he would discuss with the Chief Minister about the request of Telangana JAC for permission to Telangana March. “We would inform the decision after discussing with the Chief Minister”. He said that the Chief Minister would take a decision in the matter. He said that he was not a mediator, but a responsible minister. The T JAC leaders assured him that they would conduct the march peacefully.
Replying to a question, Jana Reddy said that he was not requesting the T JAC to postpone the march. (NSS)
