State to expand Abhihastham scheme

Women and Child Welfare Minister Sunitha Laxma Reddy has informed that the State Government has decided to expand the Abihastham scheme by including eight lakh more women into beneficiaries.

Talking to reporters at the State Secretariat on Monday, Sunitha Reddy said that the Abihastham scheme has benefitted about 1.10 crore families in the State. She said the scheme has been appreciated by the Planning Commission and World Bank and they have recommended its expansion.

The Minister said that government was keen to increase the women’s participation in Milk Mission. She also informed that the government would provide about Rs 1500 crore loans for 4,000 SC, ST colonies in the State. Further, she said the government has released Rs 100 crore to Srinidhi Bank towards the interest component for provide interest-free loans to women beneficiaries. (INN)
