State division would not have arisen had NTR was alive: Purandeswari

Union minister of State for Commerce and Industries Daggubati Purandeswari today said the State might not have faced the present situation had her father NTR was alive.

Purandeswari, along with her family members, including her husband Venkateshwara Rao paid floral tributes to NTR on his 18th death anniversary at NTR ghat here on Saturday. When media personnel approached here, she said had her father NTR was alive, the State might not have faced the prevailing situation. “All people know about the TDP. The State might not have faced the present situation arising after the Centre’s decision to bifurcate the State”, she said, adding there was a need to have a strong leadership in the present situation which can deliver goods.

Inaugurating Utsav Restaurant at Jubilee Hills later, Purandeswari said she would contest election from Visakhapatnam again. She also said the Congress was committed to Women’s Reservation Bill. Tourism sector is fast developing in the country and the educated youth need not go to foreign countries for greener pastures and can serve the motherland, she said. (NSS)
