State commissions inquiry into alleged misuse of 300 acres of assigned land

Adilabad, March 29: The issue of unauthorised layouts and alleged land grabbing in Adilabad is likely to turn into a major scandal with the government insisting on an inquiry into the ‘misuse’ of about 300 acres of assigned lands.

While a survey into the unauthorised layouts is almost complete, another inquiry concerning instances of land grabbing, which involve influential public representatives, politicians, Revenue officials, businessmen, and realtors, is nearing completion. The government had asked the district administration to conduct an inquiry into allegations of land grabbing in November 2009 vide a D.O. letter.

List

In the list of alleged ‘land grabbers’ are Chandra Prakash Goud, a former Mancherial RDO, Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna, Boath MLA G. Nagesh, Jainad ZPTC member Paila Shankar, former Ichoda ZPTC member Ashok (all TDP), realtor Mohammed Ibrahim alias Mamla Sait, document writer Faizuddin Siddiqui, alias Sahar, besides an advocate, a few businessmen, and some top level former officials, among many others.

The letter seeking an inquiry was put away by officials for ‘inexplicable’ reasons until it was brought to light a few days ago. A recent follow-up on the issue has spurred district officials into action.

Collector P. Venkateswarlu pulled up concerned officials for causing delay in submitting the report on violations in layouts.
