The State Cabinet on Friday paid homage to the victims of Dilsukhnagar twin blast.
In an emergency meeting held at the State Secretariat, the Cabinet strongly condemned the bomb blasts, which, so far, has claimed 17 lives while over 100 people were injured. Briefing the media later, Information and Public Relations Minister D K Aruna said that the cabinet has given its nod to the ex-gratia of Rs 6 lakh each for the families of the deceased announced by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday. Further, the cabinet has also decided to pay Rs 6 lakhs to those permanently disabled and Rs 50,000 to Rs. 1 lakh to the injured. She said that government would bear the total medical expenses of the injured.
The State Cabinet thanked the Centre for rushing teams of the National Security Agency and National Investigation Agency to help the State police immediately after the blasts. It also thanked Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and other leaders for expressing their solidarity.
The cabinet dismissed the allegations that the blasts were the result of failure to act on an alert issued by the Centre. Admitting that the State Government received an alert of possible attacks, Minister Pithani Satyanarayana said that it was a generic alert and there was no specific information. (INN)
