State cabinet meeting likely to be stormy

State cabinet of AP is likely to meet on 29th June 2012 which is being convened after a gap of three months. During the tenure of office of other Chief Ministers, cabinet meeting used to be held once a month but the ministers have to wait for cabinet meeting the during the time of Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. He assumed charge as CM 18 months back but cabinet meetings could be held only 13 times.

During Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara’s tenure of office cabinet used to meet 24 times in a year. Mr. K. Rosaiah also convened cabinet meetings once or twice a month. Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy avoided convening a meeting on the pretext of Telangana movement and Jagan’s betrayal from Congress Party etc.

Many departments are waiting for the cases for the approval of the cabinet. It is said that this meeting is likely to the stormy because CM has taken many decisions without the approval of the cabinet which include Brahmini steel and Bayaram Mining lease cancellation etc. CM has also given permission to CBI for initiating criminal proceedings against some IAS officers. These issues could have been discussed in the cabinet.

Ministers are perturbed with the attitude of the Chief Minister which could be reflected in the cabinet meeting of 29th June 2012. Defeat of Congress in the recently held by election could also become an important issue for discussion. Ministers can raise the issue of failure of Congress despite the campaigns of CM and APCC president. Interrogation of a minister by CBI and his arrest could also be a topic for discussion. Enhancement of DA to state employees could be taken up in this meeting.
