State cabinet gives nod to fill 3,000 posts

Hyderabad, December 01: The State Cabinet has given nod for filling up nearly 3,000 posts in various departments of the State Government.

Briefing the media persons about the important decisions taken by State Cabinet which met at the State Secretariat here on Wednesday, Information and Public Relations Minister DK Aruna said that the cabinet has decided to recruit 891 teaching and 572 non-teaching staff in 49 polytechnic colleges across the State. Further, the cabinet has also given nod for recruitment of 607 teaching staff in 65 degree colleges in the State. As many as 261 attender and 207 various posts would also be filled in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.

Aruna said that the State Cabinet had a detailed discussion on drought situation in the State. Although the cabinet did not announce a relief package, it has assessed that about Rs 1500 crore would be required to provide relief to 865 mandals in the State. She said that as many as 11 districts in the State have already been declared drought-hit. The cabinet has also expressed concern over the falling groundwater level in the drought affected districts. While the groundwater level has gone below 300 metres in Mahbabnagar, it has touched 200 metres in Anantapur district.

The Minister said that the State Cabinet has also decided to constitute a cabinet sub-committee to regularise the services of contract junior lecturers on seniority basis. She said that the cabinet has also reviewed the rising prices of essential commodities in the State. Since a cabinet committee has already been formed to suggest measure to control the rising prices, a decision would be taken only after the receipt of committee’s report.

Aruna informed that the Finance Department has cleared the proposal to increase Dearness Allowance of government employees and the final decision would be taken in the next meeting of the State Cabinet. Regarding National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the State cabinet has authorised the district administration to conduct the audit of NREGS works in their respective districts.
