Hyderabad, April 26: The state Legislative Assembly will soon be doing paperless work.
This apart, it will go live on web from January 1. It will become the first state Assembly in the country to leverage on technology and make proceedings go live.
The Assembly will not only become transparent in its functioning but will also save huge amounts of money by saying good bye to use of paper.
At present, the Assembly is spending heavily on stationery and printing.
Deputy speaker N Manohar, who is keen on completing the project before the end of this year, has constituted a nine-member legislature committee headed by M Rajesh Kumar (Congress) to oversee implementation of the project.
Several young and tech-savvy MLAs G Srikanth Reddy (Cong), KT Rama Rao (TRS), C Praveen Kumar Reddy (TDP), M Kavita (Cong) and Chandravati (CPI) are on the committee and playing an active part.
The deputy speaker appointed another committee comprising 15 IT experts.
The project will be implemented in coordination with the AP State Technology Services (APTS).
The web site will be designed in such a way that it will provide the best services to all members of the House.
The committee members are busy making the Assembly site much better one than the one that Parliament has.
Assembly rules and regulations, and proceedings including the speeches of members will also available on the web site.
Members could easily find out the status of their questions which they want to raise in the Assembly.
All government information, including the list of beneficiaries of welfare programmes, will be available on the site. They will also be a link to other related web sites.
“People anywhere in the world can access information about Assembly proceedings, bills, Acts, etc. All the Assembly records since 1952 will be put on the web site,’’ Manohar said.
According to him, several rules need to be changed to provide e-petition facility to the members and the committees was working on it.
The Assembly staff should do away with paper work and switch to desktop computers.
“We have given laptops and cell phones to the members,’’ Manohar said.
