Individuals who showed exemplary courage and selfless service to rescue people during the Kashmir floods last year were felicitated in an award function in Srinagar.
The function was organised by the NGO Athwaas Kashmir in collaboration with some corporate houses.
People from state administration, health department, social welfare department and volunteers from civil society were given awards for their contribution during the floods during the function.
Award was also given to the Shikara association for lending their boats for the rescue operations during the floods.
Vice Chairman of the Athwaas Kashmir, Nasir Ali Khan, said that the main aim behind organizing the event is to bring the youth and the government administration closer.
“Today’s program is being organised by Athwas Kashmir, which is a youth oriented trust of Kashmir, for those who played an important role in helping the state to recover from floods last year. The main aim of today’s program is to bring the government and administration of Kashmir closer to the youths,” Khan said.
“We have organised this event to felicitate the administration, we have also kept some musical performances to promote the culture and tradition of Kashmir valley. Lot of people from the government are going to attend this event such as IG police, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, DIG CRPF to encourage to youth,” he added.
The award function was followed by some musical performances by the local youths who mesmerized the audience by their unique talent.
This is for the first time that the administration is being felicitated by the civil society for their good work. (ANI)
