Starc backs ‘young’ Cummins to get better with age

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has backed rising speedster Pat Cummins, saying that the latter is only going to get better with age and will be in his prime form during the World Cup quarterfinal in Adelaide.

Speed merchant Cummins conceded 17 runs in his first two overs before returning to bowl in the 17th over and eventually scalped three wickets for just two runs from his next 2.1 overs during their last Pool A game against Scotland.

Brushing aside concerns relating to Cummins’ expensive match figures , Starc said that Cummins obviously had that bit of a niggle there, but he came back well, insisting that he bowled quick; he bowled a lot of good balls and got three wickets, News.com.au reported.

Starc, who has overtaken Mohammad Shami of India, and Trent Boult of New Zealand as the leading wicket taker of the ongoing tournament with 16 wickets, said that Cummins was only going to get better as he was only 21, insisting that the latter would be ready to go after a couple of days of training in Adelaide.
