Star Hospital withdraws calendar with blasphemous Salman Rushdie’s picture

Hyderabad: The famous Star Hospitals of the city has decided to withdraw controversial calendar with a picture of Salman Rushdie on one of its pages.

The corporate hospital had distributed calendar for the year 2018 on which it had a quotation of blasphemous Salman Rushdie along with his picture. The calendar created quite a flutter in the city with many taking objections to it. Muslim community ran an online campaign asking the hospital to withdraw it.

The Star Hospital accepted their mistake and announced to withdraw the calendar.

According to MBT spokesman Amjadullah Khan Khaled, CEO Star hospital in his reply message stated that Star Hospitals believes in respect of all religion and faiths; and that there was no discrimination whatsoever. He clarified that printing of Salman Rushdie’s picture was completely unintentional.

The hospital, which said it would stop distributing the calendar and withdraw it from all possible places, also apologised if it had hurt anyone’s sentiments.
