Washington: The Laurel and Hardy biopic ‘Stan and Ollie’ is all set to be premiered as the closing-night film for this year’s BFI London Film Festival on October 21.
Laurel and Hardy were a comedy duo in the early classical era of American cinema. Scripted by Jeff Pope, the film follows the pair on their triumphant farewell tour around Britain and Ireland, Deadline reported.
Directed by ‘Filth’ director Jon S. Baird, the film features Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly as the iconic duo.
The festival’s artistic director, Tricia Tuttle, while speaking about the film said that the story explores the twilight years of the legendary performers who shared a beautiful lifelong friendship. Tricia said it is will be a perfect end to the festival.
The festival will open with British film director Steve McQueen’s ‘Widows’.
The final lineup for the 62nd installment of the London film festival will be announced on August 30.
