Ghaziabad, February 12: A stamp vendor was shot at and Rs seven lakh in cash and stamps worth Rs 60,000 were looted from him by two persons in Sikandrabad in Bulandshahr district, police said today.
Stamp vendor Harender Singh was riding a motor-cycle to Noida from his house in Masota village yesterday when two persons, also on a bike, stopped him at gun point, they said.
They snatched his bag containing cash and stamps and when he protested, the two persons shot him and decamped with the cash as well as his motorcycle. Singh was later admitted to a private hospital in Noida in a critical condition.
His family has also been informed, they said. Police of two districts Bulandshahr and Gautambudh Nagar arrived at the spot but could only settle the issue of jurisdiction late at night.
A case was later registered in Surajpur police station in Noida but it will be shifted to Sikandrabad police station, they said.
