Stalker walks free after stabbing two

Kadapa, March 25: Police set free a dangerous stalker, that too after he had created mayhem at a poor girl’s house at Bhakrapet village in Siddhavatam mandal, Kadapa district on Wednesday.

Their callous act prompted villagers to hold up traffic on the Tirupati-Badwel- Kadapa junction demanding his immediate arrest.

Rajasekhar (19), who came out on bail just five days ago after being arrested last month for harassing the 17- year-old girl, arrived at her residence, armed with 20 litres of petrol. The panicked family members bolted the doors from within but he broke them open and before they could realise what he was up to, doused himself in the fuel and emptied half of the can everywhere in the house.

He then ‘‘proposed’’ to the girl! With no answer forthcoming, he ransacked the house and a provisional store her father Shekhar runs adjacent to it.

Later, he tried to attack the girl with a sharp weapon, luckily she escaped but her sister Rekha was wounded in the scuffle. Rajasekhar also tried to harm their parents.

A relative Penchalaiah saved them but sustained serious injuries in the process.

Some villagers subdued him and handed him over to two police constables posted in the village. However, the cops let him go.

Taken aback by their behaviour, the villagers staged a protest on the Tirupati- Badwel-Kadapa junction.

They called off the stir only after Superintendent of Police B Malla Reddy promised action against the erring cops and assured them that Rajasekhar would be apprehended at the earliest.
