Stalin in Delhi to invite PM, Sonia for new assembly function

Chennai, February 24: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin today left for New Delhi to personally invite President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi for the inauguration of new Assembly complex here on March 13.

In a brief chat with newspersons at the airport before emplaning, Mr Stalin said Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had asked him to meet the two leaders and personally invite them on his behalf.

He said during his one day stay in the national capital, he would meet the President, Vice President, Congress President, Lok Sabha Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Finance and Home Ministers, and other leaders to invite them for the inaugural function.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would be inaugurating the new complex, which is coming up at the Omandurar Government Estate.

Ms Gandhi had already given her consent to attend the function.
