Stalemate continues for Engineering fees

(Siasat News)The stalemate between the Govt. and the private Engineering colleges is on the increase on the issue to determine engineering college fees.

Govt. has decided to fix Rs.50, 200 as per the court orders for some colleges whereas for the remaining colleges, the fees would remain Rs.35, 000 as decided earlier. The college managements plead that the fees should be uniform for all the Engineering colleges. They contend that by threatening them of the raids of task force, Govt. got the declarations signed for Rs.35, 000 fees.

A meeting of the managements of private Engineering colleges will hold today in which the future course of action would be decided.

Many engineering colleges are not prepared to accept the fees of Rs.35, 000.

They said that, if need be, they are prepared to approach High Court. The Cabinet Sub-Committee has recommended for the enhancement of engineering colleges’ fees from Rs.31, 000 to Rs.35, 000. Govt. threatened that task force will inspect the infrastructure and would conduct raids to check infrastructure and other facilities provided by engineering colleges. By doing so, it obtained declarations from some engineering colleges to accept Rs.35, 000 as fees.

Noted and major colleges are firm in the stand they have taken. The remaining colleges are planning to continue their struggle for fixing uniform fees for all the colleges. Dy. C.M. Mr. D.Raja Narasimha told that the raids by task force are justified.
