Stage set for general strike

The stage is set for the day’s general strike by employees from various departments and workers from organized and unorganised sector tomorrow. The genral strike call was given by all the major central trade unions cutting across political affiliations and an estimated 10 crore workers from across the country are expected to take part in the strike.

The strike will be observed on issues of price-rise, weakeningof public sector, anti-worker policies, job security, outsourcing of jobs and increase in minimium wages Leaders of major trade unions and the Left Parties, the Communist Party of India and CPI (Marxist), took out an impressive rallies and human chains at various district-headquarters in the state today reuqesting the people to extend their support to the general strike. The Left Parties gave a bandh call on the same day coinciding with the strike.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Bank Employees Federation has issued statement requesting all employees of banks, finanical institutions, industries and unorganised workers to participate in the strike. NGOs association including teachers also decided to extend support to the one-day All India General strike by workers and employees tomorrow.
