Srinagar: J& K Police files two FIRs against CRPF Unit

Srinagar: Clashes broke out between the CRPF forces and protestors in Srinagar after a CRPF vehicle mowed down a 21-year-old Kaiser Ahmed.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police registered two FIRs against CRPF’s Srinagar’s unit over the Nowhatta incident were one of the vehicle mowed down a 21-year-old stone pelter who was trying to escape the mob on Friday, Times Now reported.

Kaiser Ahmed succumbed to his injuries after he was admitted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences.

Internet services in the region were suspended yesterday in the districts of Srinagar and Badgam to prevent any further violence due to the incident.

Earlier on May 16, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs had announced that security forces would not engage in any anti-terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir during the month of Ramadan.

The Ministry had then also said the security forces can take action against those attacking the forces or in order to protect the lives of civilians.
