Srinagar: A gunfight broke out in Dalipora area of Pulwama in south Kashmir on Thursday pre-dawn hours.
A police officer told GNS that a joint team of army and SOG cordoned off Dalipora area near police station Pulwama following specific information about the presence of some militants in the area.
As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches, the militants opened fire leading to an encounter. Civilian among injured during the exchange of fire, clashes erupt. A youth namely Younis Ahmad Dar was injured during the exchange of fire at Dalipora area of Pulwama.
Reports reaching KNO stated that the youth was hit by a bullet during the initial exchange of fire and was shifted to hospital for treatment.
An official told KNO that three army men were also injured during the exchange of fire. Soon after news of encounter spread in the area youth took to streets and started pelting stones on government forces which were retaliated by tear smoke shells.
Earlier predawn gunfight raged between militants and government forces in Dalipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
An official told KNO that a joint team of forces including army’s 55 RR and SoG Pulwama cordoned off Dalipora after having credible input about the presence of some militants in the area.
The searches were intensified in the area were militants were hiding who fired upon government forces resulting in an encounter. (KNO)
