Srinagar, Nov 12: Kashmir valley continued to shiver under the grip of intense cold as night temperatures further dipped by a few notches on Thursday after a day’s respite.
The night temperature dipped to minus 6.2 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam hill resort of south Kashmir. The resort had recorded a low of minus 5.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, the MET office said here.
Similarly, Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 5 degrees Celsius on Thursday as against minus 4.8 degrees Celsius yesterday.
Srinagar, summer capital of the state, recorded the night temperature of minus 1.4 degrees, two degrees below normal. The city had recorded 1.3 degrees Celsius yesterday.
The night temperature in other areas, including Qazigund, Kupwara and Kokernag also registered marginal decrease with a low of minus 4.0, minus 2.0 and minus 1.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Icy winds lashing Srinagar followed by snowfall and rains on Sunday and Monday also brought down the day temperature in the Valley yesterday with the city recording a high of 11.2 degrees Celsius, five degrees below normal.
