Srikrishna panel on T issue, media urged to restrain from airing unauthentic reports

Hyderabad, December 23: The Forum for Good Governance has requested the print and electronic media to refrain from leaking the Srikrishna Committee report, holding discussions, reviews etc on its contents, until the report was officially released, as unauthentic reports might create tension and law and order problem. It also requested the political parties and Joint Action Committees to react on the report only after it was released officially and studied properly.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, the forum secretary Mr. M. Padmanabha Reddy urged the Television channels and print media to impose self restraint and not to telecast/ print any matter connected to the report unless it is officially released and properly studied. He said that the Justice Srikrishna Committee’s report should be properly studied once it was officially released, and the dissatisfied section might take necessary action to redress their grievance without disturbance to peace.

He said that the Committee’s report might be in three to four volumes, and there might be three or four alternative suggestions to solve the Separate Telangana issue. In such situation, the leaked information in bits and pieces would give ample scope for interpretation of one’s liking. In this surcharged atmosphere distorted version of the report may lead to law and order problem.

The Forum president, retired Justice Reddapa Reddy said that the much awaited Justice Srikrishna Committee’s report was likely to be submitted to Central government on December 31. The report is confidential. The report will be studied by the Home Ministry and put before the cabinet or a group of Ministries. The Television channels and print media, in their eagerness to telecast/ print such unconfirmed report may create tension and law and order problem.

The Executive Committee members Mr. C. Anjaneya Reddy, Dr Chelikani Rao were also present.
