Hyderabad, April 19: The Srikrishna Committee, set up by the Centre to examine the situation in Andhra Pradesh over the Telangana issue, began its field visits today.
Abu Saleh Sharif and Ravinder Kaur, members of the panel, visited various villages in Mahabubnagar district in Telangana, neighbouring Hyderabad, and interacted with common people and various groups.
“This is our first visit. We will go to all districts in the coming months and interact with the people. We have got very good information and also support from the common people,” Sharif told reporters.
He said the committee would submit its report by December 31 as sought by the Centre.
The committee members were greeted with ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans at various places and protests by BJP members at Amanagal village in the district.
Several political leaders, including those from TDP, Congress and TRS, also met the two members of the panel.
