Srihari vows to strengthen Libraries

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today said that he will make efforts to  provide salaries to the employees of Libraries across the stat through 010 head. Participating at a state level Librarians Conference here he stressed need for removing disparity among the employees of the same department. I will send the file again to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and help the library employees get their salaries through 010 head he said. Besides digitalization of the libraries adequate number of books will be purchased for all the libraries across the state Srihari maintained.

Srihari also stated that new libraries will be set up at new districts and upgrade the existing ones. We have asked to provide computer, internet and Wi-Fi facilities at the libraries in all districts and the process is on Srihari remarked. The deputy chief minister stressed the need for branch libraries and upgradation of others will be done automatically by setting up libraries at new districts using latest equipment. State Libraries Directors was asked to hold talks with the Collectors for new libraries and space to construct new ones. He said that GHMC is to offer Rs 350 cr to libraries and not giving even Rs 10 cr. Though the state government will offer financial assistance for the libraries he said adding that the Centre taken steps which are hampering steps for strengthening local bodies.

Srihari asked OSD of government Deshapathi Srinivas to advice on the new books to be obtained for the libraries. Deshapathi Srinivas later said that Archakas of temples are getting salaries through 010 head and the librarians who are Archakas of Libraries should also get in the same way. We will urge the government to take necessary steps he said.   (NSS)
