Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has constituted a Sub – Committee of Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) under the Chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Kadiyam Srihari, to look into the issues related to Girls Education across the country.
The committee comprises members of other state include Himanta Biswa Sharma Finance minister of Assam, Dr Meera Yadav Education Minister of Jharkhand and DrĀ Rina Ray additional secretary of HRD is member secretary. The committee will hold wide ranging consultations with schools, institutions and stakeholders on the decline in girls education across the country. The HRD Minister instructed the committee to submit a report in one year with necessary recommendations and steps to be taken to ensure that girl child education is put on right track and reduce the dropout rate and avoid disparity among others.
The Kadiam Srihari Committee will conduct a study on socio-economic conditions of SC, ST, Minorities, enrolment, dropout rate, infrastructural gaps like toilet, water, power and other facilities at the schools and teaching and conditions forcing the girls to be away from the education. The committee after a examining schemes, incentives, funds and policies of education in all states and Union Territories across the country will come up with suitable recommendations.(NSS)
