Sri Lankan PM meets Jaitley

New Delhi, Sept. 16: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley here on Wednesday, during which both leaders reportedly discussed issues of mutual interest.

Wickremesinghe earlier met President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhawan here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had yesterday welcomed his Sri Lankan counterpart and said that he had an excellent discussion with him on a number of prominent issues concerning both countries.

Wickremesinghe met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan, Power Minister Piyush Goyal and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, along with several other prominent leaders and dignitaries, at Taj Hotel here yesterday.

The Sri Lankan Prime Minister is presently in India on a three-day bilateral visit.

This is Wickremesinghe’s first official international visit after assuming the Prime Minister’s office last month.
