Kollam, May 09: One of the 38 Sri Lankan Tamils, detained by police here after they were found staying in a lodge without valid documents, was arrested today after he was found to have links with a travel firm that had offered to transport them to foreign countries.
The Lankan Tamils, including five women and as many children, were detained on Friday.
“One member of the group, Dennis alias Kumar, was arrested after he was found to have links with a five-member local travel firm that had offered to transport them to foreign countries like Australia,” police said.
Though the travel agency has been identified, nobody belonging to the firm was arrested, police said.
Police and officials of the Intelligence Bureau have been questioning the Lankans since Friday.
While some of them came through sea route from Rameswaram, others arrived in Kerala by flight through Kochi, police said.
