Sri Chaitanya boy surfaces in Gudivada

Hyderabad, november 02: The Intermediate second year student from Sri Chaitanya Junior college, who was allegedly kidnapped from the city a couple of days back, was reportedly traced in Gudivada in Krishna district on Sunday.

The ‘kidnapped’ 17-year-old boy, Hanupam Veer reportedly called up his family members in Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district informing them that the ‘abductors’ had released him in Gudivada.

Though the Chilkalguda police inspector G Ramanjaneyulu refused to comment on the matter, sources said Hanupam Veer had been traced and would be brought to the city in a day or two.

“We will know the reasons behind the kidnap after questioning Hanupam Veer,” police officials said. Police suspect whether it is a real kidnap case.

Hanupam Veer went missing on Friday morning when he was on his way to attend an examination in his college at Tarnaka. Hanupam Veer stays with his uncle, Prasad, in Padmaraonagar.

Hanupam Veer’s father received a call on his mobile on Friday stating that his son had been kidnapped. The kidnappers, however, did not put up any demand for ransom and there was no communication after that from the abductors for the second time, police said.

Police suspect poor performance in academics might have led the boy to stage a ‘kidnap’ drama.
