A tenant threw acid on his house owner and her daughter after the latter reportedly turned down his marriage proposal. The incident occurred at Machilipatnam in Krishna district. As per the details Shaik Subhani deserted his wife and two children two years ago. He took a house for rent and had been living there since then. He set his eyes on the house owner’s daughter and asked her to marry him. He told the girl and her parents that he had left his wife as she was sick and needed a healthy wife. He wanted the girl to marry him and even threatened her and her parents of dire consequences if they reveal this to others.
On Friday morning, the family went to the Masjid at Kakani in Guntur district for prayers and returned in the night. Suspecting that the parents were trying to get her married, Subhani picked up an argument with the girl and her parents in the house. While the parents tried to argue with him, he pulled out an acid bottle from his pocket and threw the liquid on the girl. Shocked at this, the girl’s mother rushed to her rescue and suffered acid marks.
Victims Shaik Zareena and her 22-year-old daughter Zaheda were rushed to the district government hospital with more than 50 per cent burns.
