Spurned lover attacks girl

Ongole, July 31: A spurned lover attacked a girl, who is his classmate, with a knife here on Saturday. According to the police, Bathula Nagarjuna of Vijayawada, a third year BTech (IT) student of SSN Engineering College, fell in love with his classmate, two years ago.

On knowing about the affair, the girl’s parents fixed her marriage with another boy. The girl started distancing herself from Nagarjuna after her marriage was fixed with another boy.

Nagarjuna who got angry with her for rejecting him after having an affair for two years, had an argument with her on the college premises on Friday.
Feeling humiliated, the girl complained to college principal Kondal Rao, who reprimanded Nagarjuna.

Enraged Nagarjuna, tried to slit the throat of the girl with the knife before the start of the class.
She received injuries on her throat and hand in the attack. His classmates caught hold of Nagarjuna and tied him to a pillar. The girl was rushed to RIMS Hospital.

The doctors who treated her, said there was no danger to her life. Later, Nagarjuna was handed over to the police.
The Ongole rural inspector registered a case.
