Even as Union Minister for Urban Development reiterated that the Center was not backtracking on the special status to Andhra Pradesh State, former Union Minister and BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswhari today said there might not be the possibility for it.
Speaking to reporters at Nandyal in Kurnool district on Sunday, the BJP leader said most of the new States preferring special financial packages instead of special status. Since this special status may not be possible now, the new states preferring the package only, she said. The Centre, would give adequate financial assistance to the Andhra Pradesh if the government sends a plan for financial assistance, Purandeshwari stated.
Stating that the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre had promised Rs 63,000 crore to AP and released Rs 24,000 crore so far, Purandeshwari said the Centre was ready to extend any sort of help and cooperation for the State in future too. (NSS)
