Budget passenger carrier SpiceJet Tuesday launched another promotional fare scheme offering all-India travel options starting from Rs.999, excluding taxes.
According to the low cost carrier, it has placed 10,00,000 seats starting from Rs.999, that can be booked between 8 and 10 July for travel from 6 January to 24 October 2015 to destinations across India.
In the recent months, SpiceJet has launched four nation-wide discount schemes and several sector-wise fare reduction plans.
The travel trade industry welcomed the move which expected to be followed up by other players.
“The new sale is aimed at incentivising advance bookings and should have the positive effect of stimulating the air passenger market in the forthcoming year,”
“Competition has intensified in the air market with the entry of new players, and this sale announcement by SpiceJet targets shoring up bookings in advance, so as to sustain their market share in the face on increased competition that is likely going forward.”
Others such as Rajesh Magow, co-founder and chief executive (India), MakeMyTrip said that with SpiceJet fares being cheaper than railway charges, travellers are expected to upgrade their transport-leg of holiday on to flights.
