Minister for Power and SC Development G Jagadish Reddy today directed the officials concerned to spend remaining funds for SC welfare and development in 50 days.
Addressing a press conference at Secretariat after a nodal agency meeting on the SC Development here, Reddy said that the government is according top priority for developing the scheduled castes in the state of Telangana. The Government has allotted Rs 14,375.30 cr for development of 16.32 per cent of SCs and Rs 6,689 cr spent till January. Rest of the funds should be spent within 50 days by the end of financial year, he directed the officials.
The officials should implement a plan of action to ensure that the funds are not lapsed he said adding that special development fund for SCs in the state is ideal to the nation. Entire society in the country was split into castes and the government aim is to develop them with welfare schemes by timely release of funds he noted. The minister suggested that the funds should be spent in a transparent manner for the SC welfare as per the commitment of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
“Our commitment is to implement 197 welfare schemes and 219 sub welfare schemes for achieving inclusive growth and all round development the minister remarked. The minister directed to spend funds for offering training and coaching for SC students and youth across the state. In addition to an SC Study Circle in Hyderabad Telangana government has opened up similar study circles in all districts and the youth are able to qualify in the competitive examinations. About 100 students on getting coaching have got top jobs in the state he noted. He also said that the details of funds being spent are offered in form of pen drive to all people representatives. Our aim will be completed if more funds spent for SCs development than allotted funds, he added. (NSS)
