Hyderabad, July 23: An action plan is underway to introduce an evening delivery system of speedpost letters in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, according to Andhra Pradesh chief postmater general K V Sundar Rajan.
He said the evening delivery of post mail would be dispatched from 1700 hrs onwards everyday.
Besides, sale of gold coins, non-judicial stamp papers through post offices, next express and speed passport facility were among other services the department has undertaken in association with 16146 post offices in the state.
During 2008-09, 30 per cent of the total revenues generated in the state was contributed by various business development products and services launched under India Post. The wage earners of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme Andhra Pradesh were being paid through 14.727 POs in the state.
”As on June 30, 2009 the total number of post-office savings bank accounts opened for the NREGS beneficiaries in AP, since its inception in April 2006, was 1.05 crore ”, he added.
