‘Speed thrills but kills’: AP minister’s son was travelling at 146 kmph

Hyderabad: Nishith son of Andhra Pradesh minister P Narayana who died in a horrendous road accident on May 10, was travelling at 146 kmph when the mishap occurred. City traffic police revealed this on Friday after analyzing CCTV camera footage of the accident. His Mercedes Benz had crashed into a Metro pillar at Jubilee Hills, killing him and his friend on the spot.

Nishith’s SUV crashed into pillar number nine on Road Number 36 of Jubilee Hills while he was travelling from the Jubilee Hills Checkpost towards Madhapur.

As reported by the Times of India, the police personnel discovered that the distance between pillar number eight and pillar number nine was as much as 75 feet and the SUV covered the distance in 0.56 seconds. Hence it was concluded that Nishith was travelling at around 146 kmph.

The needle of the SUV’s speedometer was found stuck at 205 kmph, after the accident but experts maintain that it was not possible to travel at that high a speed on Road Number 36.
