Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today directed the officials concerned to complete Devadula project by July.
Along with Deputy Chief Minister Kadium Srihari, Harish Rao held a review meeting on Devadula project of micro level progress of phase III works under package 2,3 and 4 and asked them to complete it on war-footing. By rainy season, water should be given to Pakala Cheruvu from Ramappa Cheruvu, he said. He also warned that the works will be given to other agencies if they failed to complete them on time with quality.
Directing the officials to handover the works to other agencies for speedy completion, Harish Rao asked them to complete package II works by July and package III works by October. The project was to offer waters to Mulugu, Ghanpur, Bhupalapally, Pakala and some lakes, he said, adding that the works should be done in three shifts and procure fix motors, pumps and flood lights by May. “Take up simultaneous works of land acquisition, civil, mechanical, tunnel digging, lining”, he said, adding that wet run should be done by July.
Stating that he will conduct regular review in 15 days on the projects, he said tenders for Mulugu, Ghanpur gravity canal will be called in two days. As per plan, the officials should coordinate for completing the target and complete land acquisition works immediately. He asked official Penta Reddy to continuously monitor the works and give a report on package 2 and 3 works.
Harish Rao also wanted expediting Dharmasagar tunnel lining works and shift waters to Erra Rangaiah lake from Ramappa area to fill 10 chain lakes in Nallabelly. If there was no progress in 15 days, the works will be given to other agency, the Irrigation Minister warned. He also expressed displeasure at the tardy pace of works under package VI near Chennur, Uppugallu and Palakurty. (NSS)
