One of the vast and beautiful mosques of Hyderabad city is the splendid Masjid Hakeem Mir Vazir Ali located between Fateh Darwaza and Chandulal Baradari. As per the Waqf record the extraordinary building is spread over 17889 sqyds and 7000 musallis can offer prayer at a time. The Masjid is also called hub of Ahl-e-Sunnatuljama’at. The Masjid was built in 1851 but it was renovated a number of times and the renovation continued even today. It is said that the Masjid is named after Hakeem Vazir Ali, shahi hakeem of Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Pasha.
The Masjid secretary Mohammed Nisar Ahmed told that renovation of the Masjid was given a facelift for the first time 20 years ago and it is being renovated even today. The buildup area of the Masjid is 20000 sqft including ground and 1st floor. Apart from the buildup area the ground comprises of 18000 sqft. The ground and 1st floor accommodates 7000 musallis. Equipped with special digital sound system, the Masjid contains American and German sound tools, which enable the last row musalli to hear the same sound as that of the musalli of 1st row. With its spectacular interior the Masjid is a monument worth seeing.
