Specially-abled assaulted for criticising PM Modi, CM Yogi

Sambhal: In a shocking incident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mohammad Miyan mercilessly beat up a specially-abled man on December 24 and called him ‘Chamar’.

The BJP continued to beat him after he raised slogans for not voting in favour of the party.

A video surfaced in this regard in which the BJP leader is shown inserting a stick in the victim’s mouth. After the incident, victim Manoj said, “I went to Sambhal to sell my products and Mohammad Miyan called me ‘Chamar’.

“I also shouted slogans for not supporting PM Modi after which Miyan beat me. He then again beat me mercilessly for half an hour and made a video of the incident. I was even sent to jail”.

Mian, a known history-sheeter at Asmoli police station and has criminal antecedents told the daily, “Gujjar was using abusive language against senior BJP leaders. After hearing this, I lost control and scolded him. I am ready to apologise to him in public for this.”

Soon after the video went viral, social media users began to react angrily.

One user Bashir Ahmed wrote, “BJB leaders who are muslims by religion are usually more cruel and atrocious….just my observation.” User Shahid Khan wrote on Facebook, “You are flaunting a cane, the public will show you your place in the next elections.”

However, speaking to ANI, Mian claimed that the man was drunk. “He was abusing Modi ji & Yogi Ji. I tried to first explain things, but he was drunk. It was a conspiracy to malign BJP and I was just trying to make him leave the place.”

Taking cognisance of the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sudesh Kumar said, “Complaint has been filed by the victim.

We are investigating the matter. Cases have been filed under SC/ST Act and for beating.”
