Special police officer AR Headquarters held for sending abusive SMS

Cyber Crime Police of Cyberabad arrested Arun Kumar Tyagi (38), Resident of Jawaharnagar of Secunderabad for sending abusive SMSs to the member of Child Welfare Committee of Ranga Reddy district, for handing over the custody of his children to his father.

On Sept 30, 2014, based on the complaint of the Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Ranga Reddy district, that one Arun Tyagi sent abusive SMSs on Sept 28, 2014, to one of the members of CWC, keeping in mind that an order was passed by the Committee against him and the Committee gave the custody of his minor children to the accused’s father. A case was registered at Cyber Crime PS, Cyberabad under sections 509 IPC 66(A) of Information Technology Act.

Investigation revealed that the accused who earlier worked as soldier with the Indian Army and now working as Special Police Officer with Armed Reserve Headquarters of Hyderabad City Police used to verbally and physically abuse his two children (aged 14 & 15 yrs) studying at Lead India Bharat Ratnas Residential School, Keesara. The accused’s father Rajendra Tyagi took up the issue with CWC, Ranga Reddy district; who conducted a thorough enquiry and gave the custody of the children to their paternal grandfather, in the interest of the children. Feeling aggrieved by CWC’s order, he bore grudge against the chairman and members. On Sept 28 2014, he made phone calls and sent abusive and accusatory SMSs to one of the members of the committee. The accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody on Thursday.

The case was investigated by S. Jayaram, ACP, Cyber Crime PS, assisted by Sub-Inspector D. Ashish Reddy, under the supervision of G. Janaki Sharmila, Additional DCP (Crimes), Cyberabad. (INN)
