Special officer or adhoc committee to be appointed to monitor Waqf board affairs

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy will soon appoint a special officer or a 3-member committee to monitor State Waqf Board. According to reliable sources minority welfare minister Ahmedullah has recommended to form a 3-member committee to monitor board affairs after the completion of Waqf Board term. It is said that the names of Minority Welfare Commissioner Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal IPS, Jalaluddin Akber IFS and former chairman Waqf Board Maulana Ghulam Afzal Biabani Khusro Pasha have been recommended.

On the other side the present special secretary Minority Welfare is in favour of appointing special officer to monitor Waqf affairs. He has recommended the name of Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal for the post. Now it remains to be seen whether chief minister will sanction adhoc committee under political pressure or will appoint special officer. It must be noted that the term of Waqf Board ended on December 15 and as per the new Waqf act the term cannot be extended but the government must form the new board within 6 months.
